  • Yo ho ho, dudettes, I appear again

Well, gosh I haven't blogged here in so long. "Summertiiiime, when the living is easy.." no less.
    So, what's happened? Let's see...
    > Haven't started summer reading,
    > I've only gotten past the into pages in my SAT prep book that's got roughly 920 pages including the diagnostic test that comes after the intro, the five model SAT tests at the end, and over a hundred pages of vocab words, roots, prefixes, and suffixes, not to mention all the stuff in between,
    > Movies I've watched: The Golden Compass, Tin Man (over 4 hours of this sci-fi movie was way more than enough, especially since the acting was so terribly horribly bad), started watching a drama (and ditching all of the ones I began before finals studying took over), Stepford Wives (disgustingly insulting until the happy ending, which of course came otherwise I would have bashed that TV in two), half of Heathers, Kill Bill 1 & 2 (awesome stuff), and some other stuff..
    > Went to Alice's Summerthing 2009 on Sunday, June 21; cannot put into words how tear-jerkingly great it was, only I had wished so hard that you'da been there, Fanny. :( But I gotta tell you, Matt Nathansan & his band were originally who I was there for, but the opener, Parachute, was just as awesome -- THEY HAD A SAX/KEYBOARD/BACKUP VOX NAMED KIT FRENCH WHOM I FELL IN LOVE WITH ON SIGHT (the name says it alll, girl). We took pictures with them, but unfortunately, Matt Nathenson & band didn't come out for signing/pics, which was disappointing 'cause I'd really wanted to see their drummer (and MN himself) up close 'cause he was hawt and his drumming antics had been just darling. *w*
    > High chance that I'd have gained over ten pounds by the time summer is over because you would not believe how much sweets I've been eating. I have access to buying this much junk because:
    > I've joined something called CPA (Chinese Progressive Association), and I'm part of the MOJO (I forgot what that stood for) vonlunteer program that does things like participate in rallies and protests around SF and become those people who walk around asking strangers to sign petitions against our governor's unjust proposals, etc, along with Linda and Bonny, and I get to see Annie and Flora 'cause they're two of CPA's Core group (actually, Annie is the leader of the core group). This MOJO program takes place in Chinatown, where all the stores that sell cheap sweets are at. >)
    > Have watched numerous news specials and programs for MJ tributes, speculations about his death and overall outlook on life without consulting he whom they spoke of, interviews with related family or close friends, etc... don't know what to make of everything. His death was just too quick, out of nowhere, dudes. It's crazy...
    > On the night of July 4th (or 12:33 am of July 5th, to be exact), a group of FOB-y Chinese hooligans came over to my neighborhood, bringing along their girlfriends and flashy sportscars. They started setting off illegal LOUD fireworks, neglecting the fact that powerlines were right over their heads and houses all around, most of whom held sleepiing occupants (we were watching My Sassy Girl, american version). They had no regard whatsoever to the fact that it was dangerous to us because it was, of course, not their neighborhood so if it caught fire, it wouldn't matter at all to them. One of the dudes came right up to my house for some reason, but thanks to the security light my dad installed a few weeks ago, it flashed on and scared him away, but as he walked around my dad's car to his waiting gal friend, he looked up and saw me and my older sister and Bonny looking out the window, although I couldn't tell what he was thinking. The police showed up after about ten minutes into their firework fun, so they grabbed their girlfriends, jumped into their flashy cars and skidaddled. I hold a grudge. That last firework they set off was not only loud, it had been too dangerously close to the powerlines on my side of the street.

So yeah. That chat box I used to have expired before I could say something on it, so I lost all the stuff that was with it.. but I got a better one that doesn't expire if not in use, so enjoy :)

And some music? Check out the lyrics if you ain't busy :)

Hehe, I love this band's songs, planning to get a few of their albums :) Enjoy!

  • Resolutions?

Well, I haven't actually thought about it.. in fact this never crossed my mind until yesterday, but I think the number one on my resolutions list is to become a better person. I need to start seeing things from a different perspective before I'm so stuck in my ways that I can't change. And I think there's a huge crumb stuck under the 'd' key of my laptop keyboard.. I have to keep backspacing to fix the words..

Since Monday, I've been watching a drama that came from a manga that I read, Itazura na Kiss, which was unfinished because the artist died. The drama translated in english is "It Started With A Kiss", and I just finished watching all 30 full-length episodes of it just today, in Manarin with english subs. During the times that I didn't have my laptop and I didn't finish watching all of it, I was so mopey and obsessed and I couldn't go more than three seconds before remembering a scene and I couldn't focus on my homework, and I even had a dream about it... I don't think I had ever been more obsessed.. I finished watching, but there's something called "They Kiss Again" also known as "It Started With A Kiss 2" and I heard that it was supposely better than the first one so I'm watching that now, although in my personal opinion so far, the first one was much better. The main character girl is Ariel Lin, a chinese singer, acting as Xiang Qin, and the main character dude is Joe Cheng acting as Jiang Zhi Shu, but I'm not sure if he's a singer or not.. But Ariel Lin's acting was pretty good for a singer; I think she should have taken up acting, although she's the one who sings in most if the drama's background music..

The main story line is that the girl (in the manga her name is Kotoko) Xiang Qin, a dumbish girl from the F class (the stupidest and lowest levelled) has a huge crush on Jiang Zhi Shu (Zhi Shu for short, named Naoki in the manga), who is in the A (highest & smartest) class and has the highest marks in school with an IQ of 200, since she saw him freshman at the opening ceremonies when he made a speech. When she gives him a love letter in the third year of high school, he rejects her, saying that he "hates women with no brains". Xiang Qin still likes him, but when the boy Jin (I forgot his name from the manga), who is in love with Xiang Qin, tries to get Jiang Zhi Shu to give Xiang Qin donations because her house was destroyed in an earthquake, Xiang Qin tells him she doesn't want his pity money and swears she'd rather die than accept any of his help. But it just so happens that Xiang Qin's dad's best friend is Zhi Shu's dad, who invites Xiang Qin and her dad (her mom died when she was very young) to stay at his house while they find another place to live.. and if you're interested (and can actually get what I just typed 'cause I suck at explaining) you can find out for yourself what happens.. I thought the Chinese version was pretty good, better than the manga. :) An I'll probably be dreaming of it like everyday for a year or more.

Anyhow, that's what I've been up to.. I even got up at eight AM just to watch it, straight through to around 8:30 PM, and I only went through about 12 episodes per day 'cause they're about 45 minutes each. I was completely motivated to watch it.. and it ended too quickly, but that was one helluva ride. I loved that drama, I don't care that it's becasue I haven't seen many of them, but I love it so so much. I'm helpless. The stuff in the drama is too surreal to believe it can happen in real life, although it would be totally awesome... (This is the result of my hopeless romantic-ness, don't mind me.) 'Scuse me while I wipe the drool off my keyboard.. and attempt to remove that darn crumb out of my "D" key with January's fast pass. Ugh.

Right-ho, happy new year guys. It's 2009!! Although my outlook isn't too great..
